Ballerina

A few years back, I interned in New York City for Lois Greenfield who specializes in dance photography.  www.loisgreenfield.com  She is so amazing and her photographs are superb. You might have seen her work in advertisements for Broadway’s Stomp. She mostly catches dancer’s mid-air doing something breathtaking. So I thought how fun would it be to do one of these shoots myself!  Dance photography is definitely underrated.  I had expressed my desire to do dance photography on Facebook and a friend of mine referred me to Brittany, who is such a great kid and dances with such grace and elegance.  It was kind of a special shoot because she had informed me that this shoot would probably be the last time she puts on her point shoes, as she was not going to pursue a career in dance. I like to think of it as my first and probably last “Trash the Shoes” shoot. I took a trip to Solvang and we went to a beautiful hiking trail with a waterfall at the end. Throughout the ‘hike’ we did pictures here and there and the lighting was impeccable.  I could not have been more pleased with the way the lighting came out in the photographs. The only regret from that day is not being able to catch a silhouette shot (mainly because the sun was not low enough to serve as backlight at the moment).  Other than that, I am more than ecstatic about how the photographs came out. Thanks so much to Brittany for being a graceful dancer with such beautiful lines.
